  • Genesis 6:4  “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”

No, this is not another conspiracy theory. But, once again, if you are to take the Biblical account at face value it is quite likely that super-human beings mated with human females. These Sons of God would be angelic creatures who produced children with a number of unlucky human women.

The same scripture goes on to relate that they were, as many scholars believe, the basis for the ancient gods of Greece. And, while it may be a stretch, it is easy to see that these beings would have been regarded as gods or, at the very least, super-humans. They were, after all, giants apparently. Legends could easily have grown up around them and these could have evolved into the stylized legends of the Greek gods of mythology.

6. Witches Enhance the Magical Team of the Bible

  • 1 Samuel 28:7  “Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. “
  • 1 Samuel 28:9  “And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?”

And the list of the magical creatures to be found in the Bible is not finished yet. We got used to dismissing the reality in our modern, Internet-driven generation. Aside from some weird witch doctor or shaman in some third-world tribe somewhere, we don’t usually believe in the idea of actual witches. Or wizards, for that matter.  Aren’t they simply the stuff of fairytales and blockbuster movies?  Apparently not, at least not according to the Biblical record anyway.

  • 2 Kings 6:29  “So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.”

There are a whole lot of brutal scenes and events told in the Bible, but this may top them all. People expect to hear about floods, famines, pestilences and great swaths of pagan peoples being struck down in battle. But cannibalism?

To understand the context of this compromising statement by this poor woman we have to know what was taking place at that time. The king of Israel was in rebellion against God and he hadn’t been receiving good tidings from God’s prophet Elijah as a result. Things got much worse when enemy decided to attack the people of Israel.  So there was a great famine in Samaria, donkey’s heads and dove dung were being sold for food. But these two women plotted together to take it a shocking step further and agreed to kill and share each other’s children as food. Unfortunately for the one, her partner in this outrageous behaviouer backed out when it was time to kill her own child.

We’d be happy to say that this is the first line of a joke, or a riddle, but unfortunately this is a really serious issue.

Possessing Bibles, watching South Korean movies and distributing pornography may be punished with death in North Korea.

But to resolve stress, let us say: „Don’t forget to leave those at home if you ever want to visit Kim Jong Un’s country.”
